Our 2025 conference was held at George Brown College in Toronto, Ontario on May 31 and June 1, 2025. The theme was “Reframing Togetherness in Writing and Discourse.” The conference program can be found here.
2024: Montreal, Quebec
The conference was held at the Université de Québec à Montréal (UQAM) in Montreal, Quebec (and online), June 15-17, 2024. The theme was “Sustaining Writing in a Time of Crisis”. The conference program can be accessed here.
2023: Toronto, Ontario
The conference was held at the York University in Toronto, Ontario (and online), May 28-30, 2023. The theme was “Seeking Connections/Recognizing Divergence: Reckonings and Re-imaginings in Canadian Discourse and Writing Studies Today”. This was our first in-person conference since the start of COVID-19, and CASDW-ACR re-joined Congress. The conference program can be accessed here.

The conference was held online May 30 – June 02, 2022. The theme was “The Shape of Writing and Discourse Studies to Come”.
2021: Online
CASDW-ACR held its first independent online conference June 08-11, 2021. The theme of “Towards a More Critical Writing and Discourse Studies”.
2020: Postponed
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, CASDW-ACR postponed the annual conference that was scheduled to take place May 30 – June 01 in London, Ontario. The theme would have addressed “Visions for Writing Studies”. The AGM was held online June 01, 2020.
2019: Vancouver, British Columbia
The conference was held at the University of British Columbia, June 1 – 3. The theme was “Circles of Writing Studies”. Our keynote speakers were Andrea Lunsford and Anthony Paré. The conference program can be accessed here.
2018: Regina, Saskatchewan
The conference was held at the University of Saskatchewan, May 26 – 28. The theme was “The Diversity of Writing and Discourse”. Our keynote speaker was Professor Paula Mathieu from Boston College. The conference program can be accessed here.

The conference was held at the University of Ottawa, May 30 – June 1. The theme was “Writing Commons: Research and Pedagogy in Discourse and Writing”.
